Acute Renal Failure

Abstract

ACUTE renal failure due to tubular damage is in many cases a complication that is entirely reversible, provided the patient can be maintained alive and in reasonably good physiologic condition long enough to allow recovery to take place. Since World War II, increased understanding of this disorder has led to better management, and the most dramatic addition to therapy during this period has been extracorporeal hemodialysis.
