Reaction between Ruthenium(0) Complexes and Dihalo Compounds. A New Method for the Synthesis of Ruthenium Olefin Metathesis Catalysts

Abstract

The synthesis of ruthenium carbenes by the reaction of a Ru(0) compound or Ru(0) precursors with dihalo compounds is reported. A new procedure for the preparation of [Ru(H)2(H2)2(PCy3)2] and the use of this complex as a starting material for the synthesis of ruthenium carbenes are presented.
