Gas target experiments of K-shell vacancy sharing in asymmetric ion-atom collisions

Abstract

K-shell vacancy sharing was measured using 200 to 500 keV Ne incident on Na, Ne, O2 and N2 gas targets. The experimental results are in good agreement with a previous theory assuming radial coupling between the 2p sigma and 1s sigma molecular orbitals.
