Abstract

A detailed survey of roman building techniques in the age of trajan, hadrian and the antonines, as shown by the surviving monuments, both imperial and private, inside and outside rome. The book includes a full section on hadrian's villa at tivoli, an extensive study on the great growth of ostia in this period, and a survey of construction of public works of tombs and private estates throughout italy.
