Abstract The electrochemical behavior of hydroquinone (H 2 Q) in 1 M H 2 SO 4 on a polypyrrole‐coated glassy carbon electrode (PPy/GCE) has been studied using cyclic voltammetry. Hydroquinone undergoes oxidation at a lower anodic potential on a PPy/GCE compared to a bare GCE. Hydroquinone is oxidized catalytically on a PPy/GCE, and this has been found to be a diffusion‐controlled 2e − process. The effects of film formation potential, film thickness, and dopant anions on the catalytic behavior with respect to hydroquinone oxidation on a PPy/GCE are also discussed.
