Allergic inflammatory reaction is involved in necrosis of human pulmonary dirofilariasis

Abstract

These findings indicate that an allergic inflammatory reaction, mediated by eosinophils and lymphocytes, is involved in the formation of the dirofilarial necrotizing granuloma rather than infarction caused simply by embolism.
