Platinum(II)-Catalyzed Isomerization of Alkoxycyclopropanes to Alkylated Ketones

Abstract

Conversion of alkoxycyclopropanes to 2-methyl ketones has been accomplished using catalytic platinum. Mechanistic studies revealed that the conversion involves platinum insertion into the cyclopropane followed by rearrangement to produce the methyl ketone.
