Abstract

The sulphur-bridged ion, Mo2S2O22+, which has been separated from the parent compound, Na2Mo2O2S2-(cysteine)2, is stable towards acids and does not dissociate to a paramagnetic monomeric species, as does its oxo-bridged analogue, Mo2O42+, even in very concentrated acidic solutions.
