Antibacterial action of interferon preparations

Abstract

Native leukocytic interferon preparations were shown to inhibit the growth of the bacterium Staphylococcus epidermidis strain 33 as well as to activate cell respiration, to induce the dissipation of transmembrane potential and disturb the initial structure of the cytoplasmic membrane.
