Abstract

Abstract In a retrospective study of 125 transplanted patients, 8.8% developed thromboembolism (diagnosed with objective methods) during the first year after transplantation. In one patient pulmonary embolism was the cause of death and in one it was contributory. The thromboembolism developed rather late after transplantation. The side of the transplant did not determine the site of the thrombosis. Juvenile diabetes mellitus was found to be a significant risk factor.
