In this paper, we describe our research work to create a Received Signal Strength (RSS) based indoor positioning system to track livestock in a cowshed. We use a vector-based spring network model to localize the nodes. The position information is needed to analyze the behavior of the tracked animals and help the agricultural industry to face the challenges of the technology-driven modernity and care for a large number of animals with a smaller group of people. In our laboratory experiments, we reached a sub-three meter accuracy for a three-dimensional positioning environment, which is useful to several use-cases.
