Abstract

Amitriptyline is a longer-acting local anesthetic compared with bupivacaine for cutaneous infiltration. Its analgesic effectiveness is significantly enhanced by epinephrine. Coinjection of amitriptyline and bupivacaine with epinephrine enhances the analgesic duration of both drugs.
