A. ; Cesarsky, D. ; Dupree, A. K. ; Goldberg, L. ; Lilley, A. E. Abstract The H157a line arising from an H I region has been observed in the spectrum of NGC 2024 (Orion B). The measured frequency separation between this line and the anomalous line at 157a allows a firm identification of the anomalous emitter as carbon. The fraction of ionized hydrogen in this H I cloud is found to be (2.7 i 1.8) x 1O .
