The problem of the interaction of an atomic particle (atom or ion) with a solid surface is considered. The electron transition probabilities of resonant ionization and neutralization processes are determined by a non-perturbative method, which provides asymptotically correct results. The transition rates, as well as mean transition distances for these processes are also calculated. Parameters determining the transition probabilities are given for several atoms.
