Close to original: A DNA-like double-stranded polymer is synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization of a bisnorbornene derivative containing a rigid ferrocene spacer. The polymer forms helices (see picture), supercoils, and ladders, which are observable by scanning tunneling microscopy.
