Interchangeable Hearth Arc Furnace

Abstract

A laboratory arc furnace that can be used for making buttons and castings of special shapes is described. The furnace was constructed so that copper hearths of various configurations could be rapidly interchanged. Convenience of operation inside a glove box was one of the principal considerations in its design.
