A Vibrational Analysis of the Sulphuryl Halides I. Halides of type SO₂X₂(X = F, CI) II. Halides of mixed type SO₂XF (X = CI, Br)

Abstract

Abstract Calculations are reported on the molecular force fields of sulphuryl fluoride and sulphuryl chloride, using new data for the fluoride and a modified geometry for the chloride. Further calculations were performed for the mixedhalides SO 2 XF (X = Cl, Br) on the basis of data and structural proposals of Birchall and Gillespie as well as Reed and Lovejoy.
