Abstract

A general method for obtaining the elastic wave surface appropriate to any aeolotropic medium is here used to investigate the behaviour of transverse plane waves of normal (1, 1, 1) in a cubic crystal. It is shown that the conditions for internal conical refraction prevail; this prediction has been verified experimentally.
