The strain-ageing of steel was reviewed by the writer in 1963 and yield-point and dynamic strain-ageing effects due to substitutional solutes were fully surveyed last year. The present review will be confined to recent work on the effects of strain-ageing by interstitial solutes on the mechanical properties of metals. Quantitative theories of strain-ageing will be treated in a later review.
