Abstract

Twelve species are added to the flora of North Carolina. One of these new records, Compsothamnion thuyoides (Smith) Schmitz, a European taxon, was previously known in the western Atlantic only from Bermuda and another, Halymenia hancockii Taylor, was formerly known only from the type locality, Colombia. One previously questionable record, Lomentaria orcadensis (Harvey) Collins, is verified as a member of the flora of Onslow Bay. Evidence is presented to support the placement of Fauchea peltata Taylor in Weberella [as W. peltata (Taylor) comb. nov.] on the basis of newly described reproductive features.
