The olfactory system of a cichlid fish responds to steroidal compounds

Abstract

Electro‐olfactogram (EOG) responses to a diverse range of steroid hormones were recorded in he African cichlid Haplochromis burtoni . Olfactory receptor responsiveness was sensitive to the attachment sites of sulphate and glucuronide groups.
