Recent advances in photodynamic therapy

Abstract

Clinical results of photodynamic therapy continue to show promise for the treatment of various solid malignancies. This paper briefly summarizes the advantages/disadvantages of various so-called ‘second-generation’ photosensitizers and other medical applications of porphyrin-based analogs.
