When a continuous wetting transition is approached from below, the correlation length associated with interface fluctuation diverges. For a model with exponential interactions, the exponent \ensuremath{\nu} characterizing this divergence was previously found to be nonuniversal, even within classical van der Waals theory. In this note we renormalize the classical value of \ensuremath{\nu}, following closely the procedure established by Br\'ezin, Halperin, and Leibler. In the present case renormalization modifies the exponent only slightly.
