HE BEHAVIOR of the giant cell tumor of T bone has been regarded with suspicion and apprehension since its recognition in 1818.4 In 1958, 140 years later, Coley, Higinbotham, and Kogures asserted that the clinical implications of the microscopic interpretation as well as the treatment of choice were still unsettled issues, Much of this uncertainty stems from the lack of uniform criteria to be used in establishing the diagnosis of this tumor, which is relatively infrequent.
