Metallosilanediols [(C5Me5)(OC)2(Me3P)M–SiR(OH)2](M = Mo, W; R = Me, Ph) react with Me2Si(H)Cl to form metallotrisiloxanes [(C5Me5)(OC)2(Me3P)Mo–Si(R)(OSiMe2H)2](R = Me, Ph) which are converted to the cyclic bis(metallo)trisiloxanes [(C5Me5)(OC)2(Me3P)Mo–[graphic omitted])(H)(CO)(C5H5)](R = Me, Ph) on irradiation in the presence of [(C5H5)(OC)2Fe–Me]; the structures of [(C5Me5)(OC)2(Me3P)Mo–SiMe(OH)2] and [(C5Me5)(OC)2(Me3P)Mo–[graphic omitted])(H)(CO)(C5H5)] are determined by X-ray diffraction analysis.
