Abstract Recently there have been many attempts to reduce motion artifacts in LCDs. However, motion blur caused by the sample‐and‐hold driving inherent in LCDs is still a limitation for high‐quality LCD TV applications. In this paper, we present an effective method called cyclic data blanking (CDB) to improve motion image quality and to minimize flickering effects and ghost images.
