Technique for Measuring Amplitudes of Small Surface Waves

Abstract

A photographic method for measuring the amplitude of small waves on a liquid surface has been developed. The technique makes use of the refractive properties of the wave surface and involves elementary optical considerations. Measurement of frequency and wavelength are also discussed.
