The design of zero-dispersion single-mode silica fibre in the ultimate-minimum-loss wavelength region of the 1.5 μm wavelength is presented; the method used is the mutual cancellation of the material and waveguide dispersion. The baseband frequency response in the wavelength region is discussed by taking the core elliptical deformation into account.
