Abstract

On September 27, 1870, Gregor Mendel wrote to the famous botanist Nägeli in Zurich. In his letter, he suggested that sex determination might prove to be a phenomenon of heredity and segregation. But, as with his previous discovery of the principles of heredity, no attention was paid to his idea.
