A 61-year-old renal transplant recipient developed a subcutaneous leg abscess caused by Phialophora parasitica. Treatment with fluconazole resulted in no improvement after 18 weeks. The abscess required excision for cure. This phaeohyphomycotic infection due to P. parasitica represents the fourth case in a renal transplant recipient described in the literature.
