p REVIOUS inves t iga to r s have demons t r a t e d signif icant changes in aneury sms of the in te rna l ca ro t id a r t e r y a f t e r l iga t ion of the common ca ro t id art e ry . 6,s,x~ Fo l low-up ca ro t id a r te r iogr a p h y in ~6 pa t i en t s t r e a t ed wi th th is m e t h o d in our clinic rew~aled a s ignif icant decrease in a n e u r y s m size in 14, non-v i sua l i za t ion of the a n e u r y s m in 9, and no change in size in '~ eases. TM Since these cases were r epor t ed , we h a v e had 3~ add i t i ona l p a t i e n t s who have been t r e a t ed b y c o m m o n ca ro t id l iga t ion for an a n e u r y s m of' the in te rna l ca ro t id a r t e ry . T h e y have undergone fol low-up s tudies which include r epea t ca ro t id a r t e r i o g r a p h y a n d d e t e r m i n a t i o n of the res idual i n t r a vascu la r and re t ina l a r t e r y pressures .
