Users need benchmarks that are representative of real-world high-performance computing (HPC) applications in order to make good performance comparisons across platforms on a level playing field. This information can only enhance the usefulness of new HPC technology in the marketplace. SPEC/HPG (Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation/High-Performance Group) has released its first suite of codes and welcomes feedback.
