Ninety consecutive patients with ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms were treated surgically. The hospital mortality was 42% for the whole period, but was reduced to 33% for the last five years. Case management is outlined, with emphasis on ancesthetic and fluid management, and causes of mortality and morbidity are presented. The late results were also discussed and an actuarial survival curve was calculated.
