Abstract

F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) has proven to be useful in the staging, restaging, and assessment of response to treatment in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Hodgkin disease. Primary thyroid lymphoma is a rare thyroid tumor that usually occurs in elderly women. The authors describe a patient with primary thyroid lymphoma that demonstrated significant increased FDG uptake in the thyroid gland and a lymph node in the left side of the neck.
