Abstract

We have studied the response of platelets to a standardized osmotic stress following storage at either 4 C or 22 C. Platelets that had been stored at 22 C for up to 72 hours retained their ability to recover from hypotonic swelling, while those that had been stored at 4 C showed a rapid decline in their ability to recover from hypotonic stress.
