Positive physical findings included a temperature of 40 °C [104 °F]; sinus tachycardia, 130/min; blood pressure 118/60 mm Hg; bibasilar moist rales; and a grade iii/vi holosystolic decrescendo murmur heard at the cardiac apex, radiating to the left axilla. Leukocyte count was 14 000/mm3with 87% neutrophils; hematocrit, 32%; urinalysis showed 30 erythrocytes/high-power field;...References1.
