Abstract

THE maternal mortality rate associated with cesarean section in the presence of Eisenmenger's syndrome1 is 66.7 per cent.2 3 4 5 We report the successful management of a pregnant patient with the syndrome, whose child was delivered by elective cesarean section conducted under continuous epidural anesthesia.Case ReportA 19-year-old woman 157 cm tall and weighing 59 kg was referred to us at 22 weeks' gestation. Catheterization performed when the patient was 10 months old had demonstrated the atrial-septal defect, agenesis of the right pulmonary artery, and pulmonary hypertension.
