Abstract The vapour pressures of condensed liquid mixtures of argon and oxygen of known composition have been measured by means of a differential mercury manometer with reference to the vapour pressure of pure argon. From these results it is possible to determine the bubble-point curves of the system over a series of fixed temperatures. In the second part of the experimental work the com position differences between liquid and vapour phases in equilibrium were determined at three constant temperatures by a static method. The results have been extensively checked and smoothed by graphical and analytical methods. A test for therm odynamic consistency has been applied, and it is believed that the results are consistent within the accuracy of the assessment. The final data are presented in tabular form for rounded-off values of composition and temperature. Constants and formulae have been worked out which enable values to be calculated for any pressure, temperature or composition.
