Abstract The velocity of ozonisation of a number of aromatic compounds has been determined. Boron trifluoride and aluminium chloride exert an accelerating influence on ozonisation. On the basis of our experimental results it is probable, that the ozonisation of aromatic compounds takes place by an electrophilic reaction mechanism.
