Knowledge of the fracture network is indispensable for enhanced oil and gas production from naturally fractured reservoirs. In theory, the spatial distribution of subsurface fractures could be quantitatively predicted through seismic anisotropy but to improve a seismic-guided fracture prediction, the “overburden effect” needs to be reduced.
