The influence of additive [3-(2-furyl) acrolein] on zinc electrodeposition in acid sulphate solution was studied using cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and atomic force microscopy emphasising on the nucleation mechanism. The experimental and theoretical modelling results revealed that zinc electrocrystallisation is under a progressive nucleation process in the presence of 3-(2-furyl) acrolein. The obtained Zn coating layers showed a morphology of smooth, compact and fined grain structure.
