Abstract

This new edition contains some 5,000 up to date entries, including a wealth of vocabulary absorbed from African, Afrikaans, Indian, and other communities. Illustrative quotations from sources ranging from explorers' diaries to the literature of the townships and reports of recent political events are provided, as well as a pronunciation key and notes covering grammatical usage and use of politically and racially controversial terms.
