This study explores the application of 6,13-di(2-thienyl)pentacene, a solution processable pentacene derivative, in bilayer organic photovoltaics. Efficiencies of up to 1.4% are observed when 6,13-di(2-thienyl)pentacene is utilized as the p-type donor layer. Because of the unique properties of this material, the devices presented here also exhibit improved stability in ambient atmosphere.
