A formal [2 + 3]cycloaddition between [PP] and a diazomethyl anion affords the anionic, aromatic five-membered ring [RCP2N2]− (R = Me3Si) [Eq. (a); counterion Li+]. This reaction is a rare example of the use of P4 in organic synthesis.
