Abstract

The absorption coefficient for sputtered PbxSn1–xO2 films with x ε (0,0.7) in the region of absorption edge is determined by the analysis of transmission and reflection spectra. It is shown that the optical energy gap varies parabolically with x, ranging from the value 3.40 eV for x = 0 to 1.68 eV for x = 1. The value of bowing parameter is determined to be 0.79 eV. The average temperature coefficient – (dEg/dT) is also calculated to be 4.5 × 10−4 eV/K approximately the same for all compositions.
