Abstract

ALTHOUGH neuroblastoma is a common tumor of childhood, it has rarely been reported to affect more than 1 member of a family. The present study was undertaken when we observed neuroblastomas in 3 of 4 siblings. We found that the mother was in her sixth month of pregnancy and was excreting abnormal amounts of urinary catecholamines. The infant born of this pregnancy was followed prospectively, and became the fourth affected sibling when she was discovered to have a mediastinal neuroblastoma at five months of age.
