The structure of the highly neutron-deficient N=Z nucleus 80Zr is investigated microscopically using the self-consistent Hartree-Fock model. The calculations predict a large quadrupole deformation in agreement with observations. The crucial role played by the g92/T2 orbital in producing large deformations is stressed.
