The Study of Purine Utilization and Excretion in a Xanthinuric Man*

Abstract

Uricase and xanthine oxidase,l chromatographically pure reference purines (xanthine, hypoxanthine, adenine, and guanine) ,2 and the C'-labeled purines 8 were obtained commercially. Their specific activities were: guanine-8-C14, 11.9 mc per mmole; adenine-8-C", 53.5 mc per mmole; and hypoxanthine-8-C", 39.3 mc per mmole.
