The Linguistic Consequences of Boundaries, Borderlands, and Frontiers

Abstract

This article reviews research in several branches of linguistic scholarship which deal with language boundaries and with the effects of boundaries and frontiers on language. The purpose is to demonstrate the relevance of that research to borderland studies.
