the birth weight 8j lb. She appeared to be developing normally until the age of 3 months, when jerky move- ments were noticed in the arms and legs and she became difficult to feed. On admission to hospital at the age of 4 months, she was found to be an irritable child with a high-pitched cry. The limbs jerked frequently. There was no spasticity at this stage.
